Rosemary,

There are so many possible issues here...

Since you mention "printer ports" and ethernet should I asssume you're
mapping a COM port in the PC Setup panel to your printer port and somehow
using that for a crossover serial connection?

If I were you I'd connect via the ethernet port to a hub. I'd use
IPNetRouter and give unique IP's to the Mac side and the Win95 pc. (There
was a discussion of all this recently here.) Scrupulously follow the
manual to setup networking on the Win95 side.

& then...

Get a Serial/Parallel PCI card for your PC Compatible Mac. This will give
the Windows side it's own parallel and serial ports for printing, modems
etc. I got mine at CDW a year ago ($97). Computerware would know if it's
still available from Apple. With this setup David Linsey's comments
regarding Control Panel refreshing would apply to you.
