        Dear Theresa,

        No apologies needed... There are a LOT of lurkers that learn!

        Three quick comments are in order:

        First, make SURE your server is on an Uninterrupible Power Supply, with a
serial connection from the UPS to the server for graceful shutdown as the
battery approaches a fully discharged condition;

        Second, you learned how fragile the MacOS file systems (HFS and
HFS-Extended) still are... That is why you want the UPS, as well as make
SURE you keep running Norton Disk Doctor to prevent any file system
inconsistencies from propagating and causing Finder crashes;

        Third, the low pitched "beeping" sound could be the CD-ROM deck spinning up.
