Oops, I forgot, set the permissions as well for the folder(s), in file
manager. You will be able to share Mac and Win files as long as the
software program you are using has the capability, i.e. Microsoft Word
Windows version '97 and Macintosh version '98.

Dear Newt,

Your NT person has to enable directory sharing via the file manager. After
sharing is enabled drop that "appleshare folder" in your systems folder,
being careful not to overwrite an existing one.

Does anyone have a simple cookbook document on how to get Services for
Macintosh working on an NT server?

I just had my NT person install Services for Macintosh. I go to the NT
server where it is working and I authenicate using my NT username and
password. At that point I can see one and only one volume called "Microsoft
UAM Volume". It is locked and I can do nothing with it because it is
locked. Inside I see another folder called "AppleShare Folder". It is has
the buckled belt around it, which indicates I don't have appleshare
privileges to open that folder either.

My recollection is that I can place a file on the NT server from my Mac
and then a PC user can access that file and use it or vice versa. Is that
true? My NT person says that's not true because PCs can't "see" Mac files.
