[WinMac] Can't format NTFS partition?

I had an NTFS partition "disappear" last week-end. Not sure how or why,
but Disk Administrator still sees the partition, and will let me format
it FAT, but I can't format it as NTFS again. Each time I try to format,
I get a warning "format was unable to complete".

Any ideas how to fix this? I really need to restore this disk to get
some work done...
