John,

There is a shareware extension/control-panel combination called
"Net-Print" found at <http://www.luminet.net/~dmoe> with which you can
select text in any application or browser and print only the selected
text (it will ignore any pictures, etc . . .). It can also print useful
information that catalogs the clipping, for properly referencing the
material later on. The version I have does not seem to work with
Netscape Navigator 4.5 (but I haven't been able to get Netscape 4.5 to
print much at all with anything since I upgraded to both it and 8.x. I
usually use CopyPaste, mentioned below, to copy to Text-Edit Plus and
then print from there. Net-Print has worked okay from IE 4.5 and every
other app I've tried.

Another $20 shareware utility which is very useful is called "CopyPaste"
which gives you 100 clips or more on your clipboard and will clip and
paste almost anything. It modifies the built in Apple clipboard,
greatly expanding/enhancing its capabilities. I believe it can be found
at <http://www.scriptsoftware.com> or at shareware sites on the net.

One of several screen capture utilities, all very useful, is called
"Flash-it". Captures almost any screen-shot on the fly and can send to
the printer, the clip, the scrap-book or a file (perhaps even a resource
file -- to be used with Res-Edit -- but not sure about this last one).
System 8.5 is supposed to have some improved on-the-fly screen capture
similar to that of Flash-it, but I don't think it will have as many options.

These are several of the very cool, useful and productive utilities that
Mac users are fond of and blessed with. All can be tried before you buy.

Hope these are helpful to you.

God Bless us all . . . cause we all need it . . . don't we.
