[WinMac] Flawed NT double-byte support in SFM?

Here's another double-byte issue with SFM.

Copying files from an NT server (via SFM) to a Mac client,
all files with Japanese in their file names refuse to copy
stating that a file named "????.doc" (to use a Word example)
could not be copied.

However, accessing the same server and document via DAVE,
the file copies nicely.

Copying the file between Macs or between NT boxes of course
work just fine.

Both NT and Mac otherwise support Japanese just fine - it's
just when the file NAME (not the content) has Japanese in it
that the transfer breaks down..

Appears to me that SFM has a bug or other problem that conflicts
with the handling of these file names.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this?
