[WinMac] Re: NT server and mac lab very slow: Why?

        It can be a number of factors...

        Let's start with the server, then move to the LAN:

        1) Are the hard drive partitions below 80% full?

        2) Are the NTFS partitions defragmented? If not, download Diskeeper at:
 <http://www.diskeeper.com>. One critical area to watch is the critical
Master File Table (MFT) area... You want that to be clean;

        3) Shut down traverse checking by adding the REG_DWORD:
NtfsDisableLsatAccessUpdate value=1 to:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

        4) How many Macs do you have in your LAN? Is your packet traffic so high
that the LAN is flooded with collisions? Try adding in a second or even
third NIC and split your LAN into half, or even thirds to cut down on
packet collisions.

        I hope this helps!
