In addition to the info pdf files and embedded fonts already mentioned,
I would like to butt in on the thread and ask if anyone has experience
with the newest version of Adobe Reader and Win 98. I haven't found a
version that is listed as Win 98 compatible and since I haven't upgraded
from Win 95, I don't know whether I can install this without my Win 98
system crashing. Is there a rule of thumb? As an example, I have tried a
number of virus scan demos and they all seem to act flaky with Win 98.

Cheers,

Response:

I work with Adobe Reader 3.01 and Adobe Exchange 3.01 on a regular basis
using Win98 on a new Pentium II 450MHz system. They have always worked
fine - with down-loaded PDF files from the Web and with Adobe Distiller
3.02 PDF files that I have generated for Pre-press film output.

These Adobe applications were first used on a Windows95 system and then
installed on the Win98 system described above.

The Win 98 system has the latest Mcafee virus capability. Again,
everything works fine in its presence. The virus application was
disabled when installing the Adobe applications but that is understood
to be the accepted way when installing new software.
