While I usually try not to participate in these types of things, one thing
everyone needs to be aware of is that Intergraph is marketing a line of
workstations called ExtremeZ to graphic arts professionals that competes
directly against the Mac. Their director of marketing was even quoted in
MacAddict of all places pushing NT. In fact, I doubt Intergraph even sells
Macs. (I tried to search their web site but I got a "File
d:\search\new.idq. Not enough storage is available to complete this
operation. " Sounds suspiciously like an NT error.) I attended a prepress
seminar they gave regarding integrating Windows with a Mac production
workflow which consisted mostly of advice to replace all your Macs with
Extreme Z stations (even though, as I remember, Adobe Type Manager was not
even released for NT yet at that time). And I would dare to say that
Intergraph (along with most VARs/System Integrators) would rather sell you
a Windows Workstation or Server, and an expensive service/support contract,
as opposed to Macs which can usually be fixed fairly easily.

Having not seen the Intergraph booth, I can't say what was so
objectionable, but from their product line and marketing, I can well
imagine...

Sorry to perpetuate this thread...

I am working with an NT Workstation to output prepress files, and it is
well behaved. And we have an Intergraph NT server that is reasonably well
behaved... Now if I can only get our NT WWW server to cooperate...
