[WinMac] MS Word in Office98for Mac vs. Office97 for Windows

This may be somewhat off topic but I have not been able to find an
answer to this dilemma anywhere:
When we open a new document in Microsoft word on boxes running Office 97
(on boxes running windows nt4.0), the document opens full screen.

When we do the same on the Macs(several, with different screen sizes)
the document opens in a window about half a screen wide--a little wider
than the document. We have tried creating new templates but nothing has
worked to get the document on the mac to open full screen.

Any ideas on this one?
