I'm just getting to my holiday email, and I noticed David dropped the
subject of the "Windoze" epithet pretty quickly and easily. I don't
see why; I believe he had a good point, as I felt the way he did upon
seeing the term used on this list.

Alex, in defense of his use of the term, wrote:

"Windoze is just a term I find kinda cute. I don't agree with bashing
any platform (unless there is a real good reason like a major bug on
some version or something) and haven't ever done it on this list. I
don't believe the term Windoze is that derogatory and I do believe you
are being overly sensitive about this. Like I said, it's just a term
that I find cute."

Alex, have you ever researched to learn the original meaning of the
term? Just because YOU feel the term is only "cute" and not
derogatory doesn't mean others on this list feel the same way. My
interpretation is that the term was created by Mac enthusiasts
(which you have admitted to being) meant to indeed *bash* the Windows
platform in one word. My feelings (as well as that of others on the
list) about the term have nothing to do with oversensitivity, and
everything to do with interpretation.

It's always good to learn the "generally accepted" definition of a
word before using it in a public forum anyway, but who knows - my
understanding of the term might be in error. I think the list owner
(Marc) should decide, since he set up the rules. Haven't heard from
him since November; does anyone "act" as list owner when he's away?
