[WinMac] Mission critical ASIP 6 server

Hello. We are looking to buy a G3 server. It should:

Provide redundancy via RAID.
Back up data onto tape.
Serve as host for Baseview system data.
Be a centralized repository for graphics and ad files to be accessed locally
and by field offices in Europe and Asia for 50 clients total accessing via
TCP/IP.
Act as font server for local macs (only about 10 clients local)
Never crash. :-)

Possilby act as FTP site for clients to send us ads
Possilby perform archiving of old ads on CD-ROM or similar media
Possibly run Distiller on a watched folder

My question is: Is this too much for one server to handle? How reliable is
ASIP 6, OS 8.5, and a G3-333 top o' the line server?

My previous experience with AS 4.2.1 on a 7100/66 was that it was extremely
reliable (i.e. never crashed for over 2 years) but rather slow -- that was
on an overloaded 10baseT LAN; here we have switched 100baseT with only 100
nodes...

(While I agree with the sentiments that it's not a good idea to put all eggs
in one basket (i.e. on the same server) this is in fact just a small part of
our operation and the main functionality is that mac clients at all our
sites could access via the chooser a centralized point to pick up and place
graphics. As it is now we are running NT at each site and the mac's cannot
communicate across the VPN.)

The other main functionality is the Baseview system; we need all global
clients running Baseview to be working off a universally accessible database
so we can, for instance, check on European sales whenever we want to.

Also please make some suggestions as to HW and SW to help me get this done.
Cost isn't too much of a concern...your tax dollars at work.

And for extra credit suggest a good compression router (if that's what
they're called) so we can maximize our 256K ISDN connection in Europe and
Asia. We have a T-1 here and we're about to get another, but that level of
bandwidth is prohibitively expensive in other locations.

Following the lead of others, I will summarize and re-post for those who
care.

Thanks,

Ian Pierce
