[WinMac] NT SFM associations

Hello all,

I'm configuring an NT server for Mac clients. It's an NT 4.0 SP3 server,
SFM installed, Fileserver for Mac service running, Print server for Mac
service disabled (because I only print to Apple printers directly, not
through an NT queue).

All seems well, except the type/creator associations. A few associations
(like .DOC -> MSWD/W6BN) are assigned, but still all files created by a
Windows client are assigned the TEXT/LMAN type/creator. So they don't open
when double clicked (well, they open in SimpleText), but can only be opened
from within the application, in this case Word.

Do I misunderstand the associations in NT or is something wrong?

I haven't installed any hotfix or SP4 yet. Would any of them solve the
problem? I can't find anything on this at the MS KB articles. What are the
bad consequences of applying the SFMFIX hotfix. I've heard of the 'jumping
alias' bug, how bad is it? Is it an Mac OS 8.x problem only (like the
'jumping icon')?

Greetings,

Jeroen Camstra
