[WinMac] Mac OS 8.5 or NT??

Hi All,
Iıve learned a lot from your posts over the last severals months, but now I have a dilemma. Our church recently voted to purchase a Pentium II for our church office for our secretary. Sheıll be using Office ı98, Now Contact/UptoDate, and Pagemaker primarily. However, since I have a Mac I asked them for the following accomodations.
1. That Iıd be able to plug my G3 laptop into the Ethernet network and be able to drag and drop files both ways from and to the Pentium.
2. That Iıd be able to access our database on the PC and have the appropriate program launch on my machine so we could shareı the database and leave the most current file on the PC. (the actual file would be on the PC the entire time)
3. That Iıd be able to remotely dial in to do the same
4. That others on either platform would be able to remotely dial in to do the same. (very limited 'call-in with no more than one call-in at a time)
Is NT the best platform to do this to shareı with the Mac,(as opposed to Win95/98)? One vendor gave us a $3800 quote.(see below). Oh, and by the way, has anybody had experience with the Intergraph Extreme TD/266 or comparable? One of our committee members was asking about that.
On the other hand, our Board is open to the Mac if it is cost-effective, truly reliable, speedy, trustworthy, and able to do what we want. Now I need help. Is it cheaper? More reliable? Could I get a Mac system as the office machine and have PCıs network to it in a similar way as above? Could a PC user dial into the Mac and modify the calendarı on it with his PC? Is there Apple Talk Remote Access(or equivalent) for the PC?
While I"m avidly Macintosh, I honestly want what is best for our church here. I don't want to saddle the church with a Mac if it proves to be a burden rather than a 'blessing'. OTOH, I cringe when I think of spending hours 'futzing' with settings trying to install a scanner or Zip or installing software. On the Mac I've found those easy, but NT is a huge unknown to me. Our secretary has completely taken to the LCIII running Pagemaker 4.0 and Word 6.0 and hardly uses the 486 running Win3.11. (She has a PC at home running Win95 I believe). How does NT and '95 compare? How easy would it be for her to function on an NT system as opposed to a Mac system?
A few notes:
See below for the quote they gave us.

P.S. How would OS X server figure into all of this? When is it supposed to be out?
