I ran a little test to see if what you heard is true. I made appletalk inactive on two macs with Network Assistant 3.0 installed. Both macs have TCP/IP loaded. From the PowerBook I was able to control the desktop machine using TCP/IP only. From the Desktop I could not control the PowerBook because it was using DHCP.(it complained about not being able to control machines that do not have a static address) This test would lead me to believe that Network assistant will work over TCP/IP only. No appletalk communication was going on between these two machines. All I had to do was type in the IP address or DNS name and the password. Hope this helps.
