[WinMac] Mac printing-NT queues; known problem [WIN/MAC]

The macwindows web page

                http://www.macwindows.com/servtips.html

lists a known problem with NT print queues and Mac printing, entitled

Printing to a PCL printer via Windows NT Services for
Macintosh

Supposedly, Mac print output sent to the NT queue is RIPped at 300dpi via an
in-line postscript RIP on every NT queue (read the web page for details).
The queue expects to receive output from a standard Apple LaserWriter. In
other words, regardless of the printer type, I have to cast all my
NT-networked printers (by cast, I mean to assign a PPD to the printer via
the Chooser Setup) as Apple LaserWriters in order to print. Thus, I lose
printer-specific options.

If I cast my HP4MV printer as an HP4MV using the HP4V/4MV postscript PPD, I
get the following (postscript?) error:

        (\266\277\254\251\302\214\247) (Netscape:HotBot)
        __________
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to endof-file) will be ignored ]%%

What's this error? If you can provide the gory details, that would be great.

How has anyone else solved this or worked around it?

Thanks

Doug
