You know, there is another alternative. Geocities has a Virtual Office
service that is great for people who need to upload/download documents
to/from each other -- it's CHEAP $49.99 first YEAR and $19.95 after that.
Netscape offers a similar service, but it's more expensive. Might solve
your cross-platform and firewall difficulties easier and cheaper than
setting up a server.

Folders can be made public or private -- password-protected. Seems like
enough security from what you describe.
