All of my servers and my server monitor (Macs, of course!) are on APC
UPSes, using the embarrassingly retarded and feature-challenged Mac
version of PowerChute.

All of the servers' PowerChutes are set to put the servers to sleep
after 5 minutes; I have no use for servers' being up while the
electricity goes down and comes back up and goes back down and surges
and sags and...

My server monitor, a G3 desktop and 19" monitor, is set to "go down"
after fifteen minutes, so it can finish beeping me about all the rest;
works like a charm.

Mac PowerChute, among its other features, is a major CPU hog; all of my
PowerChutes have had a little ResEdit hack to settle them down, and they
are now camping happy on all servers.

BTW, all of our PC servers have APC UPSes hanging off the back of 'em; I
understand they're a hit on that side of the house, as well.

Sla/n,

Mo!
