   A bug in Microsoft Corp.'s Outlook Express 4.01 for the Mac could
   accidentally delete some incoming messages.

   According to the company, the bug affects only users whose hard drives
   are nearly full.

   To experience the bug, users must set their mail rules so that
   incoming mail is automatically sent to a new folder instead of the
   inbox. The bug causes messages sent to the new folder to disappear. It
   does not affect Windows users, the company said.

   A Mac news site brought the bug to Microsoft's attention.

   The company is urging people to download version 4.02 of the messaging
   program, which fixes the deletion bug and another glitch that surfaced
   in July. That problem, the so-called "buffer overrun bug", allows
   malicious hackers to send code that could erase local files on user's
   computer.
