I think I was one of the people that responded to the initial post. I'm
going to ask a couple of clarification questions with potential answers to
see if this helps more.

1- Did you download the patches to the 5.11 Netware client as well (it's a
replacement for a couple of extensions and the Print Browser I think)?
A: Without these patches (which should be available from the same page as
the 5.11 download, G3's have a tendancy not to work.

2- Are you trying to access the Novell Server via the Novell Directory
browser and IPX?
A: If you are, I have found that MacIPX does not handle autoconfiguration
of the Frame type well. Find out what frame type IPX is using, then go to
the MacIPX control panel. Doubleclick on the Ethernet icon and you'll get
another configuration box. Uncheck the "Always autoconfigure" box and then
select the appropriate frame type. There are also some timeout options
behind the Advanced Configuration button that *may* need to be tweaked
(although I've never had to here).

3- Are you tyring to access the Novell Server via the Novell Directory
browser and TCP/IP?
A: Some Novell networks have gone exclusively IP, and thus there is no IPX
support. Check with your IS folks. If they are running IP only, you'll
need to reinstall the 5.11 client, do a custom install, and select the IP
option instead. I've never had to do this, so I'm not sure what you'll
need to do after that though.

4- Are you trying to access the Novell Server via the Mac Chooser and
AppleTalk?
A: Make sure you got the patches to 5.11 I mentioned above. One of the
patches was the Netware UAM, and that may be causing problems when you try
and connect to the server. I'm going to assume that you can see the Novell
server in the Chooser, so the problem isn't that Appletalk isn't
functioning, it's just that the Novell server doesn't respond to your login
attempts.

Let's see if that gets you any further.

Kyle

I think animal testing is a terrible idea.
They get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
