I would think twice about using Fox Pro (2.5,2.6) or Visual FoxPro 3.0
for the mac. Although I agree that FoxPro is powerful and fast
(especially compared to Filemaker) we have had problems with our Visual
FoxPro application running on system 8.x and after many calls to
microsoft we finally got them to admit that:
1) Yes, there are memory issues (Type 2,10 errors) with FoxPro 2.x and
3.0 running Mac OS 8.
2) They have no plans on fixing these problems with either a patch or an
upgrade as evidenced by the fact that Visual FoxPro 6.0 is about to be
released on the PC yet the Mac version is still in 3.0.

So our company is left with having spent several hundred hours of
programming and testing in a language that Microsoft still touts on
their website as "your cross platform database solution" and we now have
to start from scratch. If anyone has any suggestions on decent
alternatives let me know.
