That's most likely because the type and creator information is lost in
transit. (Actually it's lost once the file is put on the PC.) If you're
running NT with Services for Mac, you can associate the .sit extension with
the appropriate type and creator codes. (sorry don't have them off the top
of my head)

You can still unStuff this file on the Mac, it just won't happen
automatically. Stuffit or Stuffit Expander will unstuff this file if you
tell them to.
