Unfortunately, these Macs have 7.5.5 because the company's internal software
infrastructure has not been updated in awhile. We are going to 8.1 in the
next month or so...maybe.

Anyway, I don't think the system software version is much of a factor in all
of this, although I am guessing that you probably mean this as a bit of
general advice.

Unfortunately again, we are talking about gigs and gigs of data, over a TEN
baseT network.

In the meantime, I did discover that the folks using the disks removed the
Iomega driver on their computers, and instead were using the Guest program
to mount disks everytime they inserted a new one. I am somewhat suspicious
of this method, since after repairing the first couple of disks, I did not
encounter any problems whatsoever...on MY Mac, where I have the driver
installed and am not using the guest util. In the meantime, I've
reinstalled it on the other computers and instructed them to let the drives
mount naturally. Time will tell if this was the problem...
