[WinMac] Video Formats

Greetings. I have a MIDI studio which necessitates keeping my equipment
noise levels low. I've solved this by keeping my computer tower (Starmax
3000) in a separate room and running long serial and video cables. By using
a high-quality cable, I've gotten very good video over the 30-foot cable
run. Because the Starmax supports SVGA output, I've not had to use any sort
of adapter.

I've been led to believe that the Apple video format is not as robust over
long distances, so I've been leery about the new Macs. I could certainly
purchase a PCI video card that would drive SVGA, but those of us doing
disk-based audio need to keep PCI activity at a minimum.

I'm wondering if anyone on the list has experience with this particular
problem and can offer comments. Thanks.
