I used to think that, then I had a case where converting Postscript did
not work right either. It was a special font for creating the various
emblems of a large group bike ride. Even using Postscript, the font was
heavier with windows. With tweaking, I finally got it right. Still don't
know why this was a problem. It would seem even the drivers can vary.

I do agree, it's a bit more likely to turn up in TrueType.
