because you specified that the font had to apper the same on both
platforms. If you can find identical TrueType fonts, go ahead and use
them. Beware, though, just because the font is called Palatino, doesn't
mean that all versions of Palatino are alike...

Well, yes, that was the big reason ATM was developed in the first
place...

I don't know off hand..it depends on what foundry made the TrueType
version if it was Adobe, I'd suspect they were identical.

However, Palatino is one of the built-in Postscript fonts. I don't know
how the mac handles it off hand (as I discard the trutype versions of my
Type 1 fonts too) but in the Adobe Postscript driver for Windows there
is an option to substitute like named type 1 fonts when a truetype font
is sent. It caused no end of hassles when lines started breaking
differently and things look different.

It really depends on how critical an eye you're casting at the finished
product...if 'It looks mostly the same' is good enough for you dont
worry about it. If you look at the output in shock and say 'That line
was supposed to break HERE, not THERE!' You will want to invest in ATM
and Type 1 fonts.
