Not familiar with Netware but I am familiar with the HP4000N printer. I
assume you are installing the software that came with the printer. When
you open the chooser you will only see the laserwriter 8 icon. HP4000N
software (unlike some other HP's) does not create a different icon. AND...
if all else fails, HP4000N will function just fine if you select a generic
laserwriter PPD, it's just that the user won't have control over grey scale
and dpi.

Have you tried creating the printer like one would any standard apple
printer? If you select laserwriter 8 you should see your printer or the
Netware Print Queue that has captured the printer on the right side of the
dialog box. If you select that printer and push the "Create Printer" button
below, you will then be able to choose "select PPD", and there you will see
the HP4000N listed along with all the Apple LaserWriter PPD's that come
with your system software.

Obviously the HP4000N PPD won't be there if you haven't first installed
HP's printer software.
