I'm sorry to hear that Planner is not working out.

Requiring upgrade/import form Now Up-to-Date makes it tough. Netscape
Calendar Server seems to meet your other requirements though (shipping,
working, cross-platform). You can use either the client in Communicator Pro
(for Win3.1, 95/98, NT as well as MacOS and UNIX) or a web interface with
less functionality. The server is available for UNIX (which ones?) and NT.
It's one component of SuiteSpot and their other server packages but also
available alone. Licensing is a little complex but they have special breaks
for student clients if you're interested in extending it beyond staff
and/or faculty.

I couldn't find any reference to a direct import from Now Up-to-date on the
web site but maybe there's an intermediate format that could be used.

"Migration tools are available for the following products:
Schedule+ and Outlook. Communicator Professional Edition can directly
import Schedule+ 1.x and 3.5. Netscape plans to provide additional import
support for Schedule+ 7.0 and Outlook in future products. In addition, a
server-side utility allows system administrators to import calendar data in
ASCII format.

Meeting Maker. A Meeting Maker migration tool is included with Calendar
Server 3.5. Download Calendar Server 3.5 to get it.

Office Vision. A REXX script for generating files suitable for import using
server-side utilities is available from the Netscape FTP site.Other.
Additional migration tools may be provided in the future, but the
server-side migration tool can import any properly formatted import file.

Other."
