I suspect that at the root of the problem is the difference between
having an NT server capture a printer versus simply having it add the
printer.

When you add a printer on NT, there is an option to "capture" the printer.
If you capture the printer, only the server will be able to print to that
printer. The printer will not accept direct connection from other servers.
The MacOS has its own print spooler, which effectively makes each Mac
workstation a server, as far as the printer is concerned.

Macs should be able to print _through_ the NT server if Print Services
for Macintosh is installed. I believe though that the printer will appear
twice in the Chooser, with the non-NT services version unable to print.

If you turn the printer off and then turn it on again, it should let Macs
print until the NT server figures out the printer is back and re-captures
it.

I don't think there is a way to reset this option other than to delete the
printer and add it again without capturing it.
