I'm a multimedia developer that my job requires me to work on both Mac and
PC environments. I have this Mac-Win problem that I cannot find a solution.

Since my PC (Pentium mmx 233) is faster than my Mac (older 8500/120), I use
my PC for surfing and downloading both Mac and PC files a lot. One big
problem I have is downloading binhex files on PC. When I download hqx or
bin on Mac, StuffIt Expander would decode the hqx or bin into a .sit file
and decompressed files of .sit file. But, if the file is downloaded on a
PC, I always get only decompressed files and not the .sit file when using
StuffIt Expander to decode it on a Mac. I really want to keep an intact
version of programs downloaded. I tried to change file creator to SITx as
shown in the hqx files on the Mac but it still decode the way I don't like.

The procedure I take:
1) Click on the hqx link to download on PC
2) Choose "Plain Text" as Save as type from "Save Decoded File As" dialog
window and type the filename + ".hqx" extension.
3) Copy the file to Mac thru MacLan (to connect to thru our AppleShare
network)
4) Drop the file to StuffIt Expander to decode the file
5) Result is a folder with all decompressed files/programs but no a
compressed (.sit) file.

If I do a download of the same file on Mac, I would get a .sit file AND
decomprssed files of the .sit file.

Any solutions to this?

Thank you,
