[WinMac] AppleShare IP user management

I've been working with SFM and NT server for a few years now, and have a
big chunk of it fairly well digested. So of course now the boss says
now let's try moving the 1300 users off of our Alpha NT fileserver and
onto this new G3 with its hot 18GB drives, AppleShare IP 5.0, and
Santorini Server Manager 4.0.

So, I've got this server running, but the Santorini software doesn't
seem to work right. It says I can import users from a textfile, and
even put them into groups, but when I try, it gives me this error:

Any idea what's going wrong here? We upgraded Server Manager to 4.1,
with the same results. The textfile is in the format:
username|xxxxx|password|groupname1,groupname2,...
where xxxxx are flags (each either "t" or "f" for settings like login
enabled, change password enabled, etc.

The first user record gets created, with the flags correctly set and the
password established, but the user is not entered into the specified
group, and the routine errors out (though the program doesn't crash).
I've tried this with large textfiles, and for a single user; on the
server console and from a remote machine, with the group account already
created and not. Same results each time.

Also, it seems that whether I'm using AppleShare or Server Manager,
there's no way for me to select entire groups of users, based upon their
group, the way I can with the NT User Manager for Domains. This sucks!
How do I set common parameters, or delete whole classes of users when
they graduate each year? Are there any other server management
utilities out there that make user management any easier. So far, I'm
pretty disappointed with Apple's notion of server management (and don't
even mention its unsophisticated security setup!)
