I know that the new PowerBook G3s should NOT be operated while closed for
cooling reasons. However from the context of the information it seemed that
that was a new restriction, that previous models could be operated closed.
My only personal experience is with a PB 5300 and it isn't a problem.
Perhaps the G3s are the first PowerPC PowerBooks with the restriction.

I would search Apple Tech Info Library <http://til.info.apple.com/> for
information about the PB 190 specifically or at least info about the "100"
class PowerBooks.

Apple has stopped fixing our PB 5300's dead LCD for free (this is the 3rd
death) so we're going to use it as a "headless" server for a lab. We'll
just stick it in a corner or cabinet and connect a monitor when we have to.

[BTW, I'm against having the [WinMac] subject line insertions. I will help
anyone find mail filtering software & teach them how to use it.]
