Hi Chris

I have a new PowerBook G3/250/13.3 that I use all the time. Before that, I
had a 540c (later upgraded to a PPC) that I used for almost 4 years as my
main system. In fact, I haven't gone near a desktop system other than my
kids' Performa and some Wintel boxes at work in years and years.

IMHO, the only reason to consider a desktop system any longer is the
potential need to add third-party expansion cards, such as A/D capture,
accelerated video, extra serial ports, etc., or if you do a lot of
color-matching publishing work. If you are even a heavy user of just the
standard business/financial/word processing/Internet applications, one of
the new PB G3s should be just about perfect.

O'Grady has a mailing list dedicated to PowerBooks. See
http://www.ogrady.com/powerlist.stm for further information.

Good luck!
