I just thought I would throw this out in case someone is having the same
issues that we did. Mac's using 8.x had a problem accessing a folder on
a NT server that had approx. 150+ User Drop boxes in it. While the Mac
clients could get in, it would take in excess of 5 minutes to close the
window. After numerous calls to Microsoft with no resolution, we even
tried replacing the server with a Compaq 3000 with dual CPU's and 320mb
of RAM. Finally we created a new folder with a different name and the
problem went away. The folders original name was User Drop Boxes. It
couldn't have been a index corruption since we had the same problem even
after doing a restore when replacing the server. Microsoft never did get
back to me on why this fixed it. They were stumped. I guess the big
point is that the problem was finally fixed.
