Subject: Some help with digests

Hi all. Hope if you're having a holiday that it's going well for you.
:}
i just spent about an hour going through the last few days' digests.
Lots of good information in there, and i'm looking forward to seeing
what else pops up.
A few things to mention: To change your subscription to digest mode,
just send a message to winmac-digest@xerxes.frit.utexas.edu
Once you're getting your mail via digest, you may find it hard to
read if it comes in as one huge message. i sure did. :{
i found a nice unix utility that will "burst" a digest into regular
mailbox format, which makes it nice and easy to browse. It's part of
the procmail package, and the command is:
formail -ds < winmacdigest >> winmacsplit
[Where winmacdigest is the mailbox with the digest in it, and
winmacsplit is the new mailbox for the split-out messages.]
If you don't have unix (oh yeah, it's a Mac/Windows mailing list, isn't
it? :), then you can try an AppleScript that is supposed to do the same
thing in conjunction with Eudora. It's called Cucumber 1.2:
http://www.karsh.demon.co.uk/soft/cucudoc.html
Please drop me a line privately if you want help with the formail
command. (i haven't actually _tried_ the Cucumber program, so you'd
probably be better off talking to the author.)
